Assetto Corsa – HTC Vive Support Now Being “Evaluated”

At the moment, Kunos Simulazioni is putting quite an emphasis on Virtual reality it seems. After releasing VR positional Audio for Assetto Corsa in a hotfix a couple of days ago, Marco Massarutto, co-owner of Kunos Simulazioni and Licensing Project Manager, probably better known to you as the “guy who posts awesome stuff on social media pre-release”, confirmed in the comment section of one of his posts that HTC Vive support is now being “evaluated”.

Having recently moved studios, Kunos now has more space available, part of which it is now using as a proper VR testing environment. Marco Massarutto explained that a motion simulator and an HTC Vive have now been fully setup in a dedicated VR room, ready for testing.

Apparently, the Vive has shown a “very interesting potential” and with the room, Kunos can now properly determine what is needed for Vive support, what impact it will have and if it is actually worth working on in the first place.

Support cannot be confirmed as of now, Marco says, but at least we know that it is being worked on and the team is trying.

Since Kunos now also has a motion simulator at its disposal, maybe more is to come in that respect as well.

Assetto Corsa was currently only playable with the Vive by using a program called Revive, which lets the Vive appear to the game as an Oculus Rift. Although working quite well apparently, this is of course not the way it is meant to be and as we know from the past, Kunos doesn’t like to compromise on Assetto Corsa. Fingers crossed.
