Together with the start of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show Pininfarina have fully unveiled their new Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo, after teasing it a couple of weeks ago.
The Design
I think it is fair to say that the EF7 is quite a stunner. It being a track focused car though, form follows function too, allowing for “a balance between emotion and efficiency”.
The full-carbon body, the design of which was inspired by a shark, is reason for an “extraordinary power-to-weight ratio”.
HWA AG
HWA AG who are a German race car parts developer and supplier and play a major role in the DTM, the German touring car championship, also supplied parts for EF7, for example, the suspension and breaking system. With Pininfarina, Emerson Fittipaldi himself and HWA AG the car already has quite a racing pedigree to show.
Performance
The naturally aspirated V8 engine, positioned at the rear of the car, will not only provide enough power to go dangerously fast on track, but will also be controllable by “drivers of all skill levels”. This can be achieved through the low centre of gravity, and the nifty suspension and braking system, mentioned before, providing “exceptional yet forgiving handling and performance”.
Production
In case you were thinking of buying a EF7, you can look forward to a very unique experience. Every car will be bespoke and tailored to the customer’s wishes. Also, once delivered, customers can “benefit from personal coaching by Emerson Fittipaldi himself and move up a driver-training ladder designed by the racing champion.”
Customers can also join a VIP owners club, as known from other brands, which will host various driving events at different race tracks around the world.
Gran Turismo Sport
Most importantly, the limited-production race car will make its way into upcoming Gran Turismo Sport too. But not only will it be available in single player, it will be part of new FIA Gran Turismo Championships available in game too. So, we can probably expect some e-sports events involving Emerson Fittipaldi’s dream car.
